While Pennsylvania is often associated with steel and the Liberty Bell, it also is home to a number of free drug rehab facilities. The state-run programs allow participants to partake in the same kinds of services that are offered in rehab facilities that carry a high price tag. Although the accommodations are far from stylish, they also won’t drive the resident away. Services that are featured in the programs include detoxification, behavioral therapy and the administration of medication to suppress drug usage. Substance abuse programs that are free of charge are offered in Philadelphia, Pittsburgh and Reading.
